The fiery, theatrical, muscular art of glassblowing found one of its greatest practitioners ever in the person of William Morris. This doc looks with intense interest both at the art form itself and at Morris’ peculiar accomplishments. His sculptures, which are part of the permanent collections of many great museums, reflect the artist’s deep study of archeology and pagan cultures. Though contemporary, they could be ancient. The film follows Morris out of the studio as he climbs mountains, paraglides, and swims with sharks. He personifies courageous and natural living. - pw
